MY APPROACH

My “fun, fear free, and frank” approach to topics around sexuality education creates a safe place where students can discuss the complexities and nuances of teen culture and decision making with straight forward, open, and honest conversation. I provide medically accurate information and credible resources on issues that young people are navigating and challenged with existing in today’s media frenzy world. I encourage students to build self-awareness and guide students to connect with their moral compass, so that they are ready to make decisions that honor their integrity.

MY VALUES

I believe it’s all about education and relationships. I realized this in college when I spent 2 months in South Africa taking care of children born with HIV because their parents didn’t have the education to prevent their children from inheriting this fatal disease. One piece of misinformation ravaged entire communities of women, children and families. It was then that I realized education was the way I could make the biggest impact in the world.

Finding a lump in my breast at the age of 27 which turned out to be stage 1 breast cancer was another sobering reminder of how important education, advocacy, and prevention was. It ultimately propelled me into the path of becoming a health educator.

My teenage years shaped a lot of the way I viewed the world and the people in my world. The quality of relationships I had as a teenager shaped the way I saw, created and explored relationships into my adult years and what I learned from these relationships turned out to be way more important than my GPA and resume. I full-heartedly believe that it’s the quality of our relationships that determine the quality of our lives.

I became a health educator because I love working with young people to empower their sense of self, offering them a safe space to learn practical language and tools that they can easily apply to their life. I engage students in the process of self-discovery in which they discover their true voice and their own moral compass and help guide them to develop relationships that are rooted in healthy vulnerability and authentic connection.
